The
Rosbrien Suicide Awareness Group initiated a meeting of a number of
voluntary organisations whom we had come in contact with through our
awareness programme. Our aim was to explore the possibility of a
coordinated effort in the Limerick area to deal with the growing
tragedy of suicide. The concept of a coordinated approach to suicide
prevention a bereavement counselling was embraced by all the
organisations present and we have now formed the Limerick
Support Services Network. Limerick Support Services

The
programme is run under the auspices of the Mid-Western Health Board.
The aim of this programme is to help those who have experienced a
death by suicide to find healing and support in a safe and caring
environment and to provide an opportunity for individuals to meet
others who have had a similar experience.
A suicide support group currently meets at the Pastoral Centre on the
2nd Wednesday of each month at 8pm and in Newcastle West on
the last Monday of each month.
The Centre also puts people in touch with counselling services. ![]()
