RSAG networking with other organisations on Suicide prevention and suicide bereavement counselling.

The Rosbrien Suicide Awareness Group initiated a meeting of a number of voluntary organisations whom we had come in contact with through our awareness programme. Our aim was to explore the possibility of a coordinated effort in the Limerick area to deal with the growing tragedy of suicide. The concept of a coordinated approach to suicide prevention a bereavement counselling was embraced by all the organisations present and we have now formed the Limerick Support Services Network.
The Limerick Support Services Network now meet on a regular bases and have put together an information sheet on the services each organisations have to offer.
We have also with the support the Network entered into discussion with the Mid-western Health Board and Junior Minister of Health Tim O'Malley on the setting up of a suicide prevention Day Care Centre in Limerick.
We hope that this coordinate approach to suicide prevention and suicide bereavement in the Limerick area will lead to a nationally coordinated approach to the tragedy of suicide in Ireland.
